Upcoming Sparks Virtual Lab Event
The NSF-ATE project Simulations for Performance Assessments that Report on Knowledge and Skills (SPARKS) has launched the SPARKS Portal to offer your students access to a virtual lab where they can turn knobs, blow fuses, and receive feedback before they step foot in your electronics lab. You're invited to participate in a field test of software that teaches introductory electronics with a virtual breadboard, components, and test equipment October 15th – December 15th, 2012. There is no cost to schools or community/technical colleges to participate.

A National Perspective and California Funding Opportunities, February 26th, 2013 At Santa Barbara City College, 8am–3pm. Who Should Attend: This workshop is intended to benefit instructors and administrators working at community colleges, technical institutions, and other similar training and education organizations who offer, or plan to offer solar training and education.

Upcoming Cuesta College Workshop

ATTE Announces Faculty Development Workshops

Each workshop will cover: Photovoltaics, Solar Thermal, and Energy Efficiency. These comprehensive training events have been developed by Hands On Solar, Inc. and College of the Desert and are offered by the South Coast Air Quality Management District through the Chairman’s Helping Hand Initiative. The workshops are being offered to faculty of vocational schools and colleges that are located within Orange County and the urban portions of Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties.

Dates/ Locations
November 9th: Southern California Gas Company Energy Center, Downey
November 30th: College of the Canyons, Santa Clarita
December 7th: College of the Desert, Palm Desert

These workshops are intended to enhance instructional offerings at colleges by providing faculty with the most recent information on industry trends, job skills requirements, state and federal programs, and instructional resources available through a number of sources including: the California Energy Commission; American Solar Energy Society; North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP); California Solar Energy Industries Association (CALCEIA); the Solar Foundation; and the Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC).

Attendees will receive flash drives containing substantial instructional and reference materials. The information presented in these workshops can be used to enhance existing course offerings, or can be used for new course development. Emphasis will be placed on the process of integrating up-to-date and viable information into course instruction through appropriate development and implementation.
